Alan L. Storm, AIA, Chair - DBI Architects (Reston)
Storm is a graduate of the University of Arkansas and has worked as an architect in the Washington, DC metropolitan area his entire career. He joined DBI in 1975, became a stockholder in 1976, and has been the majority owner since 1998. During his tenure with DBI, Storm has overseen the growth of the firm from 13 to 74 people, won numerous design awards, and expanded the company’s scope in the institutional, government, corporate, and technology marketplaces. As owner, Storm has overall responsibility for the firm’s strategic direction, management, and marketing; and takes a Principal-in-charge role in specific projects.

Stephen A. Coor, Hon. VSAIA Chair-elect - Riverside Brick and Supply (Richmond)
Born and raised in Richmond, Coor graduated from Trinity Episcopal High School and Elon University with a BA in Political Science. He has been involved in the masonry industry for 39 years, starting as laborer for his family’s masonry business and moving into sales and marketing at an early age. He has spent the majority of his career focused on members of the architectural community and is currently the Director of Architectural Sales for Riverside Brick & Supply. In recognition of his service to the profession of architecture, Coor became an Honorary Member of The Virginia Society AIA in 2005.

Peyton Boyd, FAIA, Vice Chair - Peyton Boyd Architect (Abingdon)
A graduate of the UVa School of Architecture, Boyd is president of Peyton Boyd Architect, a diversified practice in religious, institutional, commercial and residential architecture. He has been a guest lecturer on historic preservation, downtown revitalization, sustainable development, and art in architecture. As the VSAIA’s AIA150 Champion, he curated the exhibit “Livable Communities for Virginia,” which opened in December 2007 at the VCA. The Virginia Society AIA honored him in 1998 with its Award for Distinguished Achievement and in 2010 with the William C. Noland Medal, its highest honor. In 2011 he was elevated to the AIA’s College of Fellows.

Laura B. Cameron, Secretary - Community Volunteer (Richmond)
Cameron was awarded a BS in Mass Communications, summa cum laude, from Virginia Commonwealth University. She was editor or managing editor for several corporations and newspapers in Richmond and Winchester and later held fundraising and communcations positions with Virginia Blood Services. Cameron has dedicated much of her volunteer service to advocating for preservation of the historic fabric, notable structures, and distinctive character of Richmond’s Fan District, along with promoting materials conservation and environmental stewardship. As President of the Historic Monument Avenue and Fan District Foundation, Cameron shepherded fundraising to purchase neighborhood street signs and launched an historic preservation lecture series.

Joseph E. Wells, AIA, Past Chair - AECOM (Arlington)
Wells is Senior Vice President/Division Manager of AECOM’s National Capital Office. The son of an architect, he received a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech in 1978. He has worked with three firms in Roanoke, Virginia; Houston, Texas; and Washington, DC, finally with Hayes, Seay, Mattern & Mattern, Inc. (HSMM). Wells served in a variety of roles with increasing responsibility, eventually becoming the Director of HSMM’s Buildings Division in Washington, DC prior to the firm’s merger with AECOM. Wells is an avid supporter of Virginia Tech and participates in a number of community service activities in the greater DC area.

Kathleen A. Blanchard, CIC, RPLU, Trustee - BB&T Insurance Services (Richmond)
Blanchard leads the Design Professional Liability Practice Group for the central region of BB&T Insurance Services, the 6th largest insurance agency in the country. Her practice specializes in working with architects, engineers, and environmental consulting firms. Blanchard’s team helps clients objectively compare and select their insurance products and advises them on a broad range of risk management and loss control issues. A graduate of the University of Kansas, Blanchard is a Certified Insurance Counselor and a Regional Professional Liability Underwriter. She is a frequent speaker on professional liability issues and serves on the boards of a number of industry organizations.

Boggs is Vice President and Manager of Business Development for Turner Construction Company’s Mid-Atlantic regional office. Drew St. J. Carneal, Trustee – Community Volunteer (Richmond)
Carneal graduated from Princeton University and received his LLB from the University of Virginia. He retired from legal practice in 2004, having served in several prominent positions in local law firms, for a Fortune 500 company, as well as being appointed Richmond City Attorney. Carneal presently is Corporate Secretary for Carbones Inter Americanos S.A., a Colombian company engaged in the mining, sale, and distribution of coal. He is fascinated by history and is the author of the book Richmond’s Fan District, which showcases the development of this Richmond neighborhood. Carneal resides in a Monument Avenue home designed by Duncan Lee.

Cathey has been with the UVa School of Architecture for eight years, first as Associate Dean of Students and currently as Director of Communications and Outreach. Before UVa, Cathey was Director of Education and Emerging Professionals Director for the AIA in Washington, DC, managing AIA programs and committees focused on education and emerging professionals. Prior to the AIA, Cathey designed publications, authored design competitions, and was editor of ACSA News for the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture. After four years interning with Virginia and North Carolina architecture and engineering firms, he joined Overnite Transportation Company, designing truck terminals. Cochrane later invested in TourTime America Limited, eventually becoming president and transforming the company into a 60-motorcoach charter. After selling TourTime, he served as Assistant to the Vice President for motor freight carrier Highway Express. In 2005, Cochrane left the trucking industry and reorganized the existing Rockville Development Corporation into its present form.

Upon receiving a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech, Dreiling followed a career path largely beyond the bounds of traditional architectural practice and now serves as Executive Director of the Virginia Center for Architecture. She has worked in several not-for-profit settings such as The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and as a staff Vice President for The American Institute of Architects in Washington, DC, exposure that provided her with unique non-profit management experience and professional fundraising expertise. Among other awards for distinguished leadership, Dreiling was elevated to AIA Fellowship in 2000 in recognition of her exemplary volunteerism for the profession.
