Julie VandenBerg Snow, FAIA The Weekend House is reduced to a few essential elements. The main house and a small studio sit on a black platform. The two black volumes create a frame for the water of Lake Superior as it extends toward the distant horizon.

The Warroad Land Port of Entry primarily processes recreational vehicles, local POV traffic and commercial trucks carrying open beds of logs, peat and propane. The Port is designed to be safely monitored by only two officers during late-night shifts.

Keynote Speaker
Julie VandenBerg Snow, FAIA, is the 2010 Keynote Speaker. Her highly collaborative Minneapolis-based firm, Julie Snow Architects, produces work ranging from master plans, transit and infrastructural design, product design, residences, public buildings, and even a mini-golf course.
